THOMAS M. SAUNDERS specializes in representing emerging medical technology, biotechnology/genetic engineering and pharmaceutical concerns, addressing patent prosecution, patent strategy and Intellectual Property licensing matters, and ANDA Paragraph IV opinions. He is also experienced in university technology transfer matters including developing university policies, negotiating on behalf of universities, and negotiating on behalf of acquiring companies. Trademark and copyright matters are also important areas of practice. This includes cybersquatting domain name disputes. He is particularly active in jewelry design disputes.
For over 20 years Mr. Saunders has worked with early-stage entrepreneurs in the biomedical field. He has advised and coordinated efforts including intellectual property strategy development, patent portfolio preparation and management, and implementation of confidentiality and employment agreements addressing intellectual property rights. His patent practice includes assessment of patent landscapes, free-to-market opinions, and strategic partnering evaluation. Mr. Saunders has a substantial background in biotechnology and chemical patent practice, facilitated by his graduate studies in physiology at Case Western Reserve University and Albany Medical College.
