WOLFGANG STUTIUS is a Patent Agent with more than 30 years of professional experience in university and industrial research settings. He has drafted and prosecuted US and international patents in the areas of optical devices, semiconductor technology, nanotechnology, materials science, computer storage systems, and medical devices, and has participated in opinion and product clearance projects.
Wolfgang was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Wisconsin in Madison (1970–1972); a member of the technical staff at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (1972–1984) conducting fundamental and applied research in the physical and materials sciences, in particular magnetism, nonlinear and guided wave optics, gas and semiconductor lasers, optical and x-ray spectroscopy, chemical vapor deposition; and a senior research group leader at the Polaroid Microelectronics Laboratory in Cambridge, Massachusetts (1984–1996), where he established a materials section for the preparation of compound semiconductor materials and devices for light-emitting devices (LEDs and lasers).
Wolfgang has published approximately 50 scientific and technical papers and presented an equal number of invited and contributed talks at scientific meetings in the United States and abroad. He is named as an inventor in three patents.
Wolfgang holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zürich, Switzerland, and is a member of the Boston Patent Law Association, the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), and the American Translators Association (ATA). He is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Wolfgang is also fluent in German.
